An exploration, re-membering and reclamation of the initiation of our first period.
This workshop will be a safe space for us to recall, share, heal and celebrate our experience of our first bleed. This initiation into womanhood is often not met with the warranted celebration, kindness, or empathy that it warrants. We will take this time to return to this period of our life and explore how we might have liked to have been received at that time.
In this workshop, we will take time to revisit our first period. For many women, this moment marked an important initiation — even if it wasn’t recognized or honored as such at the time. Together, in the presence of other women, we’ll gently explore the memories held around this time, including any difficulty, confusion, or pain that may still linger. If memories feel unclear or absent, we’ll also make space to explore what might be there instead. This process will be supported through creative art-making, shared reflection, and mutual recognition, allowing for integration, meaning-making, and deeper understanding.
